About Us
UCONN III seeks to change the perception of the impact investing through education, networking, and development. Investing in a socially-conscious way means generating market-level returns while addressing current most challenging issues. Our organization is committed to provide opportunities for those who want to make the world a better place through investing financial capital. Our organization holds various events throughout the year: guest speakers from the impact investing-focused organizations and the UConn faculty members; workshops about the best practices in sustainable investing, conferences, and an annual impact investing competition within UConn.
UConn Impact Investing is a new club founded in 2020 at the University of Connecticut. The overall goal of the organization is to help students network and connect to experts in the field. We want to end the stigma that impact investing means less financial returns. All over the world, individuals and companies alike practice impact investing techniques. Some examples of those who use it are pension funds, private foundations, development financial institutions, etc. The GIIN estimates that the current market size for impact investing is a whopping 715 billion US dollars and this is just the beginning. Not only does it lead to financial success but also helps elicit positive change in the world around you. Impact investing is a hybrid between charity and investing money. It gives you the best of both worlds, so ask yourself, why not impact invest?
Below is a Forbes video that shows a little bit about the new phenomenon; impact investing.
